Court Imposes Criminal Sentence and Professional Ban on Official Who Issued Fake Passports
By Netvora Tech News
A woman from Pijnacker has been sentenced to 12 months in prison, with six months suspended, and a two-year professional ban for issuing fake passports. The woman worked as a temporary municipal employee in Vlaardingen and Dordrecht between 2018 and 2019 and created false passports for three applicants.
According to the court, the applicants used someone else's passport photo to request the fake documents. The defendant processed the requests, created the fake passports, and also made changes to the Municipal Register to enable the individuals to use the fake passports at the municipalities where she worked.
Underhanded Scheme Exposed
The court found that the defendant had gone to work at municipalities specifically to create fake passports. She filled out application forms and made payments herself, and even created a passport in Dordrecht intended for a fugitive criminal. The court severely reprimanded her for this.
Judge Jolien Montijn said the woman had played a crucial role, coordinating and initiating the scheme. "People in the criminal underworld can keep living their lives and are facilitated by a public official in this way," she stated.
Consequences of Illegal Activities
- The woman's actions facilitated criminals and undermined the integrity of the public sector.
- The court's sentence aims to deter others from engaging in similar illegal activities.
- The professional ban will prevent the woman from working in a position that requires trust and responsibility.
The court's decision highlights the importance of officials upholding the law and maintaining public trust.
