US Offers $10 Million Reward for Tips on RedLine Malware Developer

By Netvora Tech News

The US government has announced a reward of $10 million for information that leads to the identification or location of the alleged developer of the RedLine malware. RedLine is a type of infostealer, designed to steal login credentials from various applications, including browsers, VPN software, chat apps, and cryptocurrency wallets.

How RedLine Operates

RedLine is offered both as a standalone product and as a subscription service. Criminals use RedLine to steal login credentials, which are then sold on criminal marketplaces and forums or used for their own nefarious activities. In 2022, security firm Group-IB reported that criminals had stolen passwords from over 675,000 Dutch computers using RedLine.

International Law Enforcement Cooperation

Last year, the Dutch police, along with the FBI and other international authorities, gained access to RedLine servers. The operation uncovered millions of stolen login credentials, email addresses, cookies, credit card numbers, and other sensitive information. According to the US authorities, the RedLine malware was developed and sold by a Ukrainian individual.

$10 Million Reward for Information

The US government is now offering a $10 million reward for information on the Ukrainian developer's whereabouts, as well as information on the use of RedLine by individuals acting on behalf of foreign governments. Tips and other information can be submitted via the Tor network to Rewards for Justice.
